I got this based on a Wall Street Journal review. I figured it would be cute. Well, its cute and REALLY engaging! There are no written or spoken directions. Terrific graphics! The baby mammoth makes charming grunts and trumpets. The challenge is to clear his way through lava blown out of the top of a cat mountain using chunks of ice to cool it off so he can walk over it. You pop bubbles to release the ice and, as you progress, you need to slice the ice into specific sizes to cool a specific amount of lava. Too much ice, he cant get past the ice. Not enough ice, there is still lava left. If you fail three times, the app gives you a hint.
I tested it out for my 7 year old, hoping it wouldnt be too young. The app eases you into it, so you are just enjoying seeing what new hat he finds. (After you complete a level, he mammoth "finds" a new hat - sombrero, top hat, etc...) by the time it starts throwing actual numerical fractions at you, you are hooked! GREAT, more like this PLEASE!
